Hi

That's a tough one. On a campsite, I'd rather have seven QUIET well behaved dogs (with considerate owner) than one untrained noisy dog. Having said that, maybe there should be restrictions on the number of dogs allowed.

The jury's out for me, although looking on the positive side, I guess five of those Daschund's could have made a tasty snack for a bull breed if the need arose.

We were at the Brighton CC site a week or so ago and parked two pitches away from a motorhome which had a dog in it - owners out for a jolly on their motorcycle. When they got back they asked whether their dog had disturbed us and were most suprised when we told them that their dog had barked continuously for more than 4 hours. They then avoided us for the next three days but stil went out everyday and left the dog in the motorhome where it barked for hours on end. They also took it to do it's business in the hedge just behind the van and were quite happy to let it pee over everyone elses pitch.

That's why people are fed up with dog owners - the few spoil it for the many.

I don't see anything wrong with having 7 dogs as long as they didn't cause any problems to anyone else & it doesn't sound like they did.

Dogs or children, it makes no difference how many to one caravan; it's how they are controlled that is important.

As for the dog left barking for hours in a motor van alone, well I would have told the warden as I bet there was a rule that dogs should not be left unattended, clearly a case of taking the dog away purely to save kennel fees.

Margaret there is a rule on C.C. sites about dogs being left alone. What amazes me though is Daves comment that after leaving their dog once and being told it barked they still carried on leaving it alone. What did Dave do about it? Nothing it seems except complain on this forum but that wont alter the dog owners behaviour. They should have been reported to the Wardens the second time they did it. Now others will have to suffer their anti-social behaviour until someone has the guts to do something about it. I'm sorry but Dave, by his lack of action, has condoned their behaviour and owners like myself get p****d off with taking the rap for them.

I think its unfair to tar all dogs the same. We have 5 dogs and always make sure they are welbehaved at all times. We never leave them in the caravan alone, and always take them out with us no matter where we are going. We use C/CC sites and like Ebury Hill best for the dog walk. My husband and son walk our dogs more than 5 times a day if we decide not to go out that day. We have had loads of comments on how well behaved they are and people are always stopping us to enquire about our dogs. We have 2 border collies, 1 black labrador and 2 shih tzu,s. Please feel free to come up to us if you see us anywhere. Also I,m an electric wheelchair user as well and we are just one happy family. There are no bad dogs just bad owners.
