Hi, this has been posted in Buying but I wasn't sure whether it was the correct section so I am repeating it here. We picked up our brand new Swift Challenger 540 in June just in time for our main holiday. We checked to make sure that everything was working and discovered that the water from the shower was leaking onto the bedroom carpet. There was a strip missing from the bottom of the door which was then sent in the post. On our main holiday, we discovered that there were cracks down one side of the shower, the door would not close due to problems with the seal, the toilet roll holder fell off. We have not used the shower apart from the test before our main holiday. We have contacted Swift and the dealer so they are aware of the problems and an engineer came to see the van today. Can anyone give us some advice as to where we stand legally or has anyone just purchased a new Swift and had the same problem. How was it resolved? We would be very grateful for any advice and help. Looking forward to your replies

Hi Helen,

Sorry to hear about your ongoing issues. It is normal for a Swift Warranty Assessor to visit your caravan in the case of faulty / damaged showers & washrooms, simply as to view the issues from a photo can be difficult.

The assessor will now report his finding to Swift, and if approved, we will ask your dealer to correct the issue. Clearly, your caravan is still under warranty so this will be done at no cost to you.

I hope that helps to give you an idea of the process, but once again, I am sorry for the issues you are having.

Thanks,

Ash

Hi Ash, thanks for your reply. You have contacted me before regarding the strip on the shower door. To be honest, this problem is not acceptable especially as the van is brand new. As it is at the moment, it is not fit for purpose. The engineer has put duck tape over the cracks which run down one side and across the top of the entire left panel. This is causing me much distress as I have just come out of hospital after having brain surgery and was hoping to use the van during my recuperation. As it is now, I am feeling totally disallusioned and this major problem has taken the shine of my lovely new van. The dealer is due to phone tomorrow with the results of the engineers visit. I am waiting patiently as to what he has to offer as I know what I am prepared to accept. Once again, thanks for your reply. Helen.

Forgot to say, this problem has not changed my outlook on Swift caravans. In my eyes, they are of good quality and build. Lets just hope that the solution to this problem does not change my outlook.
