Changing leisure battery

Hi I am changing my 105Ah leisure battery for a 135Ah. I have a solar panel fitted do I need to “switch off the solar controller unit” prior to swapping the batteries over or can I just disconnect and then reconnect thus maintaining original settings?

It would be preferable to switch off the solar panel or remove the inline fuse first. If you "spark" the battery connection while removing or fitting the battery, it may damaged the solar panel controller or blow the fuse.

Whenever you undertake any sort of electrical work, you should always turn of or isolate the system you are working on from an power (mains or Battery)

Even 12V systems have the capability of giving you quite a surprise if you do something wrong, so if you are not certain of what needs to be done, call in someone who is.

Only reintroduce power to a system when you are fully confident of what you are doing.
