Changing Towcar?

So the Missus doesn't like driving the '08 Mondeo, too big and a ****** to park. So now what? An Abbey 416 GTS comes in at 1400+ kg, finding a smaller but heavy towcar isn't going to be easy. Any help from ex- Mondeo owners that have moved on would be most welcome.

You have my sympathy, my wife drive Sorento and Disco 2 but dislikes the XC 70 as she cannot see the front and the mirrors are at the same level as other cars. So I guess it's a full on 4x4 next time as nowadays I have to pick sites with a pub within walking distance.

Mmmm? no further luck looking for an alternative towcar yet. Volkswagen Tiguan tickles a bit, just as wide as the Mondeo, a tad heavier but much shorter! Against is, permanant 4 wheel drive and a hefty price tag. Is there a website that can more easily tell me all the suitable towcars for my '07 Abbey GTS 416 ? I thought the Caravan Club advice section did, but you have to go thru' ranges of cars?.......or am i doing it wrong?

Go for a small 4x4. The wife will love it!

what about a astra 2 litre cdti some have got a towing limit of 1500 kgs

We use a Mazda 6 although you would be just above 85% mark. No smaller but somehow it feels that way and far more reliable, cheaper and hold their value better. We are on our second after a Vectra which was a good towcar but a bit iffy on reliability.

Test drive a Mazda CX-5, i have a 175ps sport AWD manual, 310 pound feet of torque. Tow limit of 2000kg for manual or auto.
Tows our Valencia without effort, kerb weight of 1663kg, but only 88kg nose weight limit.
Wife loves it, as she did the last two cars, both xtrails.
