Charging battery in situ

I have a 110 amp battery in my 2007 Pageant Bordeaux which is a very tight fit in the battery enclosure. Is it feasible to charge the battery with a stepped charger leaving the battery connected to the caravan and just piggy backing on to the terminals.Obviously the caravan would not be connected to the mains and I would check electrolite level at regular intervals.I am worried about damage to the on board charger.

Hi Clive,

I would suggest that you use the onboard battery charger as it is the safest option. Note that on some newer models the caravan battery needs to be switched on-line to charge it up.

I wondered why my battery was not charging when on hook-up until I decied to read that bit of the manual!
