Hi,
Now in our third year of caravanning and having just completed a trip of 1000 miles to the Loire Valley, we really enjoy the freedom of hooking up and towing to our destination. After 3 towcars and on our second outfit, I am comfortable towing at 80kg noseweight and really noticed the difference on the occasion it had been around 90kg. Not having towed anything up until three years ago, I feel reasonably confident now and enjoyed towing in France, but made sure I had the noseweight dead on 80kg there and back.
Which brings me to my point, I have never noticed anyone checking their noseweight before they leave the site in three years of caravanning? I am really careful about packing the van, to the point of refusing to take certain items as I know they will affect the payload and I know where everything should go and how to get the correct noseweight, BUT I still check as a matter of routine. I see caravans pull up and all sorts of equipment being pulled out, bikes, loungers, bbqs etc etc.and wonder how they manage to stay within the payload limit?
I can only assume that people know how to pack their vans to achieve the correct noseweight and load without actually checking?
John
