A friend of mine says he uses Morrisons Biological washing liquid for both his top and bottom tanks, only using two capfuls per tank. Not sure if this is ok, has anyone else tried this

Thanks

Peter

Probably not do any harm to the vans toilet, but unlikely to be welcomed by the sewage works, what would happen if we all started to use it? Does it do the business.......doubtful. I'd stick to normal fluids there is a wide choice and they work both on the business and at the sewage works.

Not something I'm likely to try anytime soon Peter, if liquid detergent was the best thing to use in a toilet cassette the manufacturers would have recommended it in their instructions.
I should imagine that recognised toilet chemicals are less expensive to use than liquid washing machine detergent anyway, so what would be the point of using the detergent?

Washing detergents contain degreaser's this with damage the seals in the cassette.
Why would you think that washing liquid is better than toilet fluids?

I don’t use Morrison's but use Sainsbury’s own Basic Bio Washing liquid[ they stopped doing it] and have some Tesco to use when my Sainsbury stock is down.
It is incredible how the bio liquid breaks down the "solids" though I don’t find it does much to disguise the odours.
We use it, one cap full dose, where we can empty the unit daily and where the site has a septic or other organic sewage system.
Being a product that relies on the action of enzymes and one sold for domestic washing use where it enters the sewage system I have not the slightest concerns that the unitary sewage treatment plant can’t cope with it.

For quite sometime now I have been using Blue Diamond, I found this on E bay and it works out quite reasonable does what it says on the tin.The blue has a pleasant odour and the pink rinse is very pleasant too. That is my finding at around £14 for 2ltrs of each. One of the dealers also does two free toilet rolls as well for the same price.

I've used Elsan Double Blue very successfully for a number of years. Sweet smelling and dissolves solids and paper.More importantly it is antibacterial so hopefully kills off bad bugs that may lurk in the cassette.

Using Bio liquid isn't for me . Does it foam up?
What goes in the flush tank? Certainly since using the pink flush fluid I've had no black bits.

I had the misfortune recently to follow someone to the disposal point who had not flushed and had left an almighty stench. I assumed they were not using any fluid at all but perhaps they were washing liquid users. Very bad idea in my opinion, we hear of tales of novovirus rampaging through cruise ships, it will be caravan sites next if this idea catches on.
And while we are on the subject I would be cautious of buying little known brands on e-bay ( I'm not referring to Blue Diamond here, I have seen that for sale in reputable outlets). As far as I can see there is no standard that these fluids have to attain, anyone can just put a capful of disinfectant and some blue colouring into a bottle of water and call it toilet fluid.
