Chrysler Voyager

Hi

We are looking to purchase a 1999 Chrysler Voyager 3.3 LX auto, petrol for occasional towing but we cannot seem to find the max or ideal towing weight for this car. Would someone be able to help us please.

Many thanks

The auto version has a very low max tow weight for its own weight about 1500Kg.had to buy a Sedona Auto to tow an 1800Kg MPTLM van. They do not make manual versions as nobody in America would buy one.Look the next time you are out and about, I bet you will not see one with a tow bar!

As peter has allready stated the voyager as indeed the vast majority of chryslers has a very low max tow limit, the manuals are 1600 kgs and the auto is even lower.

The motoring press and most caravanners will agree that the voyager allthough a very nice car is not a very good option as a tow vehicle.

I'm on my second voyager after the underside of the boot started to crack after i got rear ended. But now the second voyager is cracking in the same place without being rear-ended?? I think the twist in the towbar design relies too much on two spot welds to the rear chassis cross member. (i was towing a road trailer with a mini on it! when it cracked)

That's probably why the Voyager has such a relatively low towload limit. Maybe the noseweight was also a bit too high. Just goes to show how important the underbody structure is, too.
