Citroen C5 as a tow car?

no, go for the 2.2 ltr manual. we have the estate version and it can tow a caravan weighing up to just over 1500kgs. it's a great car and quite economical (40+mpg solo, 28+mpg towing). on the estate version, there is a button in the boot, which lowers and raises the rear suspension, and it makes hitching up easier. the 2.0 version is good, but the 2.2 just has that little bit more pulling power.

Go for a manual - the auto boxes have a reduced towing limit. On the 2.2 it's limited to 1300Kgs. I have the 2 litre 136 model and it copes with my Pageant Imperial very well, mostly in 6th gear. Fuel consumption from fill to fill is solo around 47mpg and down to 28mpg towing.
