Hi all,

I know its a wide and varied search, but I respect practical caravan readers views, so here goes,A CL/CS within easy/safe walking distance to a nice village or town please.Anywhere in the country.

Cheers Robin.

Hi David,

Good web site thanks very much, but it does not give me any info as regards to proximity to village or town. Not unless I look at every enrty. It's a pity that the search engine can find, fishing, golf, horse riding etc, but not a village or town.

Cheers Robin.

Robin try putting the post code of the site in on google earth, click directions from point, it will give you distance in miles or yards.

If you are a member of the Caravan Club there is a CL at Flagg Hall, Derbyshire. Very nice - in the middle of nowhere really, but a short walk over fields or via the quiet road takes you to Moneyash - no shops but a nice pub and cafe serving excellent food.

We have just come back from Hevingham Lakes CL in Norfolk. www.hevinghamlakes.co.uk/ There are two fishing lakes on site, but as I'm not a fishing person, can't vouch for the quality. The CL is spacious, level, well drained and has a shower and toilet. There is also a commercial site adjacent to the lakes. About five miles away is Aylsham - a small country town with everything you could need. Slightly further is Holt - a bit bigger, but very pleasant. Norwich is 11 miles, with P+R access. Several impressive NT properties nearby.

Hi Robin

We have been to the Caravan Club site at Melrose on the Scottish Borders a couple of times. This is a really lovely site and is only a 2 minutes walk into the village/town centre. There is also the river close by for nice walks. Highly recommended.

I would thoroughly recommend Barrow Farm CC CL in Rode, near Frome, Somerset - I'm a bit biased as its in right within the village I live in which has 3 great pubs, post office/store, very picturesque and where the infamous "Road Hill murder" took place back in the last century or so. The site sells free range eggs, has a pick your own farm (seasonal), river fishing, and easy reach/bus routes to Bath, Bristol, Longleat. My parents bring their caravan down when they come to visit us and love staying here!
