We had the same problem on our way to Scotland last year. In the end we stayed at Englethwaite Hall CC site, it's not far from the M6.

It was a while back, but we stayed the night at Teebay services, where there was a dedicated area for caravans staying overnight

Thanks Wendy, Graham and Sue for your replies.

I've seen some CL's/CS's in the CC & C&CC directories, but recommendation from fellow caravanners count for a lot, even for just a night stop.

As Graham said there is a dedicated caravan site adjacent to the north bound service area at Tebay. The site is accessible from the south bound area also via a service road. It is all hardstanding with EHU and has toilet block and showers. It is well screened by trees and there is very little traffic noise. We use it two or three times a year for an overnight stop when heading south.

Hi Mike. Can you tell me what the caravan site is like, as the website doesn't give any details of it?

Thanks.
Hi

The site Mike is refering to is no longer a cl. I read about its closure in the CC magazine a few months back, shame as it was a good clean cl.

Thanks, Ray - that's why I couldn't find any details about the CL.

Thanks too, Lord B - but we are looking for a site with a wc.

I've got details of some CL's and CS's in the Carlisle/Penrith area from both site directories and we'll chance our luck with one of those.
