Hi all. Cleaning around a skylight is pretty straight forward. But how do you clean the complete unit in all those impossible to reach places, without removing the unit? Thanks.

Try putting a pair of small step ladders inside the van and poking your head out of the top depending on how tall you are if you can get a reach around the unit

Apologies. To clarify, I’d like to thourouly clean a Heiki rooflight. Looks like the only way to do it is to remove the arm retaining screws and lift the dome unit away from the van. Unless there’s another way?

My main Heki I can clean as Craig says. But our caravan came with a skylight (MPK)) over the rear dinette. That one has a double layer dome but the layers aren’t sealed and dirt goes between them. The only way is to get high over the roof and remove it, then disassemble it on the ground. But it’s fastenings are Torx/Star which requires long thin tools. I’ve just had a Heki fitted last week which can be accessed more easily in situ and doesn’t get dirt between the inner and outer surfaces. But

remove the four star screws in a closed position, the four screws that hold the outer and inner together is another story you must be very careful because the plastic threaded screw holes could crack on removal or on replacing , give them a good soak in the bath.
