Cleaning tea stained Melamine cups

Can anyone oblige with any tips on how to clean tea stained melamine cups.We have tried using a specialist cleaner to remove the stains, but after using this twice the stains are a little lighter, but however they still remain.

Denture cleaning tablets. Drop one in fill with water and leave for a couple of hours.

I use Milton or something similar. When you steep the cups, put your t-spoons in as well and they also get a clean.

Just a tip,

mix some Bicarbonate of soda with a few drops of water to make thick paste, then rub the paste into the affected area - works a treat, and can be safely used on many different cleaning jobs, such at the top of the cooker, even heavily baked on debris in roasting dishes etc.

Cheap and safe.

Denture cleaning tables are also good in cups, and tea pots.

Throw them away and use china instead!

Ditto Chris. We are seriously considering replacing all our melamine crockery with china plates and cups as they do not stain or scratch when using a knife on them. Just think of all those nasty germs hiding in all the scratches on your plates that you cannot get rid of.

We threw the melamine stuff away 4 years ago & have gone back to civilised eating off proper plates, drinking from proper cups & using proper cutlery, would'nt go back to plastic if I was paid to!

Totally agree, food or drink just isn't the same on plastic. Just needs to be packed with a little bit of care. For all the difference in weight it's just not worth having melamine,

Thankyou all for taking the time to reply, But we have only just started to buy dedicated equipment for use in the caravan (After years of using kit from the house)we purchased a melamine tea/dinner set for the van, and we are going to persevere with it for the time being.
