Hi all, I have recently suffered a stroke. I was wandering if any one could recommend seasonal pitches around Garstang, Lancashire, south lakes area. For the interim period while I'm onthe mend. I have been caravaningfor 50 years. My outfit is an elddis avante 860.

Kind regards John.

I would suggest you do a Google search for campsites in the area you are looking at, enquiredirectly with them re the availability of seasonal pitches, and then ask if anyone has any first hand knowledge.
its pretty pointless someone ssaying "This site is excellent" if they don't have any availability!
In addition of course a lot if sites pretty much close down until next year.
Good luck

If you use facebook, there is a couple of pages which give seasonal sites where owners can advertise pitches and folk can request for information on sites in certain areas. Type seasonal touring caravan sites in facebook

Only problem with Garstang is that it sits twixt the WCML, M6 and the A6 and tends to suffer from a rather higher level of ambient noise than most places. Oh, and it is around 25 miles from M6 J36 which is usually regarded as the start of the South Lakes area. Even Carnforth which is the most southerly point that you can get to on a non-motorway is 15 miles!
I would suggest you might consider Morecambe. A bit old and run down but beautiful views across Morecambe Bay to Grange-over-Sands and the Furness peninsula and you can easily drive the four miles to Sainsbury's or Asda in Lancaster, or five miles to Tesco at Carnforth to do your shopping.
