Cleaning Those Hard To Reach Places

I have an 04 Autosleeper Symbol ES, a hi top panel van conversion. All around the body at the point where the top and body meet is a brown band that I assume is supposed to channel off the water from the roof.

This channel is full of dirt, gunge and moss which stops the water draining away. I would love to remove all the detritus, the brown band has proved impossible to remove, are there other Symbol owners who have found an easy solution?

We don't have the same sort of van but we do have a J rail on ours. From time to time deposits of dirt build up in it but it's fairly easly to clean out using an old toothbrush or by pulling the edge of a cloth along it.
