Cleaning Velour Curtains

Hi all we bought a previously owned Elddis Slipstream Vogue SE in September , and we have already had 2 great holidays in it.
When we bought the caravan we obviously gave it a good clean inside and out, but one thing we didn’t clean (because I am unsure how to) is the curtains and I feel they could do with a freshen up.
They are all velour, hung using popper tape.
I have checked all the curtains and cannot find any labels on caring for them.
I seem to have lodged in my mind that you cannot just throw them in the washing machine (I don’t know why, I might be wrong).
Can anyone recommend the best way of cleaning these curtains?
Many thanks.

Hi Stuart
My better half who was a textile technologist tells me that there are two types of velour, cotton or acrylic. If it is cotton then they would have to be dry cleaned but if they are acrylic they can usually be washed or dry cleaned. The problem may be determining which fabric it is.

Thanks John,

As we really are not sure if they are cotton or acrylic we are going to have to hand over some cash to have them dry-cleaned, many thanks for your input.

Stuart.
