"She who should be obeyed" complained on our recent trip that my cloths fell off the hangers, my cloths are obviously slippery! Any ideas?

We have solved the problem of the hangers falling off with the help of this forum.

In the rear hanging locker the is a shelf on which she puts my T-shirts and they also fall off, so another problem to solve!

Hi Mike

Cannot help you with this one as we have a cupboard that has shelves from front to back and our clothes just move around a bit.

Looks like you will have to place the clothes at the bottom of your locker and move up to the shelve on arrival at destination!

Unless others have solved the problem.

Joyce

You could try wrapping rubber bands around each end of the coat hangers (probably 3 at different distances). This should help.

We use a length of foam pipe insulation over the hooks of the hanger with each end hanger over the outside of the foam

On site you can use the length of foam between the side of a hook on clothes drier and the side of the van

Another way of using foam pipe insulation, is to cover the full length of the hanging rail, then slice through the insulation to the hanging rail every 2 - 3 inches. Put the hooks from the clothes hangers in those slice's and they cant slide about.

Try clipping clothes pegs on to the hangers for trousers and shirts...works fine, they won't slip off.

Alternatively try laying all your clothes (except of course the ones you are wearing) out on the floor and then they won't have far to fall....lol

A few years back hired a static caravan in France and the coat hangers had a ring which was on the rail and each hanger attached to these rings,so couldnt fall off, and if I might say I hope Rod was kidding when he sugested fitting shock absorbers to the caravan to stop clothes hangers falling off. Another good tip I was given was to alternate the hooks on the hangers, the first hook pointing forward, the next one pointing backward. Works a treat every time. Ken
That's what I do, Ken, and it works.

I put that suggestion on another forum, and got the sarcastic comment "........and only half the clothes will fall off.....", but it does work.

I thought the OP was worried about things falling off the hangers NOT the hangers falling off the rails .

The only way I can stop this is to insist that all garments are hung fully done up and fastened - which is a right royal PITA
