hi all

swmbo and myself have started to plan our next foray starting in the spring we will be away about 6weeks and have a few sites proviionally booked mostly small comercials around the south west we are hoping to keep the cost down by visiting as many CLs as possible while away so can anyone recomend some CLs with fishing on site preferably with EHUs and shower block but would consider others for on route stops if possible with contact details as the CC site book and web site are a bit vauge and they seem to use the same photo for them all.

thanks colin.

hi LB

sorry I should have been more specific anywhere starting on the M5 corridor bristol downwards so somerset, dorset devon and cornwall, we will not be in any hurry so don't mind touring round but starting in late april will miss the fishing season on rivers that does not start untill the 16th of june, so would prefer ponds before then after it does not matter. our main aim is to meander down to st.austell to meet up with some freinds on trevivor farm begining of june for a week and then meander back on a different route thanks bud.

I'm off to St. Austell in May, not the van though. We are renting a bungalow and taking daughter, SIL and the grandkids. We've been before and it's got a heated swimming pool and 2 acres of grounds, nice place.

I have quite a few of the Armcher DVDs so will look some up.

I don't know if you have a PayPal account but if so you can then go to the Armcher site and download a video of the CL when I post the link . It costs 56p for each downloaded CL.

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=6228&map=on
Google map the post code.

This used to be a CL but isn't any longer because it allows more than 5 vans.

Adult only.

We intend to go one day. We were booked to go last May but had to cancel because of my MIL passing away.

Go here to download a video of the site. Costs 56p if you have PayPal.

Try these ya ol' tyke but you'll have to check them out in the CC handbook, get the postcode and look them up under Google maps. You'll have to do something, I ain't your mother who is prepared to wipe your bottom. I've put what area they are listed in in the handbook...

...

Polborder Farm Touring Park, St. Martins by Looe, Cornwall.

LISTED under Looe.

Fenwick Trout Fishery, Dunmere, Bodmin, Cornwall.

LISTED under Bodmin.

Hawkridge Farm, Spaxton, Bridgewater, Somerset.

LISTED under Bridgewater.

Beare Mill, Crediton, Devon.

LISTED under Crediton.

Barrow Farm, Rode Hill, Rode, Frome, Somerset.

LISTED under Beckington.

I've stopped at this site and it's ok and easy to find.

Phone number is different to the book .. 01373 831353

River course fishing.

Lower Dutson Farm, Dutson, Launceston, Cornwall.

LISTED under Launceston.

You will need to contact the site owners regarding what type of fishing it is.

p.s. Don't forget, you could go to the link above and check if there's any videos to download for the sites I've listed. Better to pay 56p than be disappointed when you get there ;O)

Shouldn't tell you this really I suppose but the Salmonhutch Coarse Fishery does in fact have it's own C &CC Certified Site adjacent to the lakes. Not so good as Beare Mill Farm though and I don't think any EHU's

thanks all epecially LB using the weblinks and recomedations I think there is about 25 worth further investigation (should keep me busy for the rest of the week)I have discounted the ones that charge for fishing as this adds a lot to the overhall cost, her indoors like to tour round the area we are staying in so it is unlikey the rods will come out before teatime anyway.

we looked in at northam farm on our way down last year it does seem like a nice site but was very busy even in may with lots of anglers on site and the lake is not that big, some seem to leave items on the bank of their faviorite spot to reserve it which I dont like seeing so we decided to give it a miss. we will be going a couple of weeks earlier this year so it might be worth a visit.

chris G, beare mill is shown as a waterside CL but does not appear to control the fishing on site so I presume a fishing ticket must be obtained near by adding to the cost, the site on the salmonhutch fishery is as you say C&CC certified CS and does not appear to be listed for non members.

PS. please keep the suggestions coming we are new to the concept of staying on CL,s as we only joined the CC last year most seem to require a booking although we did find a couple that would take us last year for the odd night on spec if they were not busy.

thanks again

"chris G, beare mill is shown as a waterside CL but does not appear to control the fishing"

Yes the river Yeo runs through the farm - not sure about the fishing rights - give them a ring they'll be pleased to help.If you want free fishing I used to catch minnows a little bit further downstream when I was a kid if that's any help!

Beare Mill Farm is on one side of the Exeter - Barnstaple Tarka Line Railway track (very infrequent trains - it's one Dr Beecham missed!!!) and Salmonhutch Fishery site is the other.

Now then ya ol' tyke. You say you have discarded those who charge for the fishing. Well I know that you're a Yorkshireman and I know Yorkshireman like to keep a tight rein on their brass but you ain't gonna get a CL and free fishing for a fiver a day ya tight assed ****** ... heh! heh! heh!

Somehow my hopes have now dropped of you buying me a pint of Stowfords Press ;O)

hi LB

straight to the point lol I like that, your pint of westons is assured on that basis alone :O)

the fact of the matter is since retiring last year I have no income at all jusyt the savings that will have to last for the next 4 years untill my pensions come on line, last year we scooted off for 7 weeks basicly for the novelty value and just because we could after all thats what retirment is all about isn't it.

however after returning home soon realised the total cost was a folly as no planning had gone into it doing every thing on spec is a bit expensive so this year I am trying to plan ahead and use CLs to keep the cost down. it may be that it is imossible to do it if so the plans will have to be modified accoridingly.

as I said before we are new to the concept of using CLs and have no idea what is available and at what cost and the reason I asked advice of other members who do.
