clumber park cc site

Hijo-anne

Clumber is a lovely site well up to CC standards, the problem though is the site is easy to access from the perimeter fence and because of this seems to attract a lot of theft. We were on site in 2006 and during our stay mountain bikes were stolen, there has also been several threads on here in the past where other thefts have been mentioned.

It is a shame as the site and Clumber Park itself are very nice.

Hi Jo-anne,

What Richard says is right - it's a lovely site, open and in the middle of a very large country park with more bike rides and footpaths than you could use. Markets nearby if you like that sort of thing, Sherwood Forest, the Major Oak, Edwinstowe village etc.

Two downsides though: the bike thefts are an ongoing problem as the site is easily accessible for various lowlifes to walk in from the many parking places nearby, there is a secure storage at Reception but what's the point in that as you can only get them when the reception is open; and, if you haven't got kids you wouldn't want to be near the large play area - this is superb (for kids!) but is obviously noisy and very busy during daylight hours.

As you can't book a pitch on CC sites this leaves you in the hands of what is left when you arrive - some pitches are a little tree-shaded as well.

Taking the negatives into account, it is still a great site for walking and cycling in the area and as a base for touring Notts.

Impossible to get on for Bank Holidays though!

Enjoy it if you go.

Hi Joanne,

Been to cc Clumber Park a few times, its a good site, a number of posts have been made in the past on the forum about the problem of potential theft.

Clumber Park is very popular with families, loads of kids around at school holidays and weekends. The pitches get taken up quickly on a Friday evening. Thought about returning again this year but have decided to try some different sites for a change.
