Hi all. We are new to caravanning and have bought a Swift Charisma 620 2007. We plan to use hook ups most of the time i fact all of the time. I wonder if we can use our 26" LCD Samsung Television in the van. I know it's big but it's got freeview built in and we have the Status 530 directional antenna fitted on the van. The television uses 120w. Is this ok for hook up at a site.

I cannot believe that this is a serious posting.

Considering that you have to sit about 9 feet back from such a size screen to watch it, you also have the weight and storage problem, as well as probably breaking it in transit.

You obviously haven't been on many sites recently then!

It seems to be the vogue at the moment to cram one's huge TV screen into one's caravan... Like I said in another posting - the things you see on site are quite laughable...

And great fun.

Heh heh heh!

A few years ago, before we started with our own caravan, we rented a static at Whitby because we were meeting friends there. While shopping in Whitby I saw a 32" widescreen TFT on a special offer in a sale so I bought it.

I set it up in the static to test it worked OK before we take it home and we were sat 6 or 7 feet away from it. It was great! Like being at the cinema!

We now use it in the lounge as our main TV. Wouldn't dream of taking it away in our small 2 berth caravan though. We have a 15" TFT for the caravan.

Somebody recently (tongue in cheek) mentioned the side of a caravan being ideal for those new home cinema projectors.

It's only a matter of time !

Terry 120 watts will have little effect on your hook up its only about half an amp. 26" is not particularly big. If you have room for it go for. your caravan your holiday your choice.

Thanks for you kind words Damien but I have thanked Colin for his input. We are new to this and do find a lot of people very helpful. It was a serious post and has now been answered.
