I'd be interested to see the results of any independent surveys of vehicle safety, showing how the different national maintenance/test regimes affect vehicle safety - or not, as the case may be.
It does seem perverse that most technical people in Britain thought that the proposed regime would decrease safety here, not increase it.
 
Yes it is great news, imagine having to have more frequent tests on older cars or having to test high user mileage cars the same way as taxi and ambulance are,what an utter waste of time that would have been!
