condensation problem

Hi,

I have a bailey ranger 550/6 2005 model. The condensation in this van is terrible so much that it runs down the rear walls where the bunks are and wets the pillows and mattresses. It has been back to bailey shortly after purchase and they fitted a vent in the wall but it has made no difference, i have spoken to my dealer and bailey and they said sleep with the windows open they must be taking the **** surely. Is this normal for a caravan?

thanks

David,

Condensation is a common problem, especially at this time of year.

During the daytime, with using the door to enter and leave the van during the day, and probably spending a lot of time out of the van anyway, it does not create a problem.

At night, however, as we breathe we expell moisture in our breath, which with the van closed up, the moisture will condense on the colder surfaces.

When Bailey, in your case, say sleep with the windows open, they mean on night setting, not all of them, but a couple to allow circulation of air and allow the warm, moist air to escape.

Hi David,

We have experienced the same problem in our Bailey 470/4 (2005). I read somewhere about the windows on night setting so we tried it. Guess what? it works.

Mind you, I aint tried it in the depth of winter....

I have a bailey ranger 500/5. I leave the windows closed but leave the centre skylight slightly open with the blind pulled across leaving an inch gap. Works a treat and never experience condensation regardless of the time of year. Andy

Hi, we have aSeries 5 Pageant (2/2005) and when they firts came out the press expressed some reservations in that they were not fitted with anti-condensation boards. Last New Year we had quite bad condensation both behind the seats and around the fixed bed. Yet we always make sure that the van is well ventilated. Then I saw on this forum that Bailey were fitting newer vans with anti-condenstion boards and retrofitting to older vans if still under warranty. So I contacted my daeler and boards were supplied and fitted at no charge. Result no more condensation. Even if you did not geta free supply and fit the boards are quite easy to mak eup and fit as DIY. Give Bailey a ring I always find them to be very helpful.
