2007 Lunar Quasar battery box badly leaking - dealer agrees on 4/2/2008 and orders new box from Lunar.8 months later and loads of different excuses dealer still not received new box from Lunar.

2007 Audi Avant - headlights out of focus.Tuesday 28/10/08 dealer cannot adjust and orders new headlamps.Monday 3/11/08 headlamps fitted.

Because of the total lack of concern/care I have experienced with Lunar over this and other matters I will not be buying another van from them.Unfortunately from what I read on this forum all caravan manufacturers are equally abysmal at after sales care.

Geordie,

A forum like this one is here to help cravanners with problems. Therefore by it's very nature you will mainly read of people with problems. Rarely do you read of caravan manufacturers or dealers being praised. There are hundreds of caravanners who have no problems at all, or if they do are full of praise for their dealers or manufacturer. You do not hear from these people.

It is the same on sites, people who have had problems will be only too pleased to tell you about their problems. Caravanners without problems, in my experience the vast majority, talk about other things.

In the last ten or so years of my caravanning i can only speak of Swift and Bailey and i am full of praise for both.

Likewise my dealer of 20 plus years Golden Castle Caravans at Staverton Airport have been excellent. I deal with them because i know exactly the service i will receive. Dealing with Golden Castle gives me complete peace of mind.

From talking to people on Caravan Club sites, and having many caravanning friends, there are some other good dealers but some which leave a lot to be desired.

I'm in full agreement. It seems to me dealers in the Gloucestershire area seem to offer an excellent service.

I can say with total honesty all my dealings with Chipping Sodbury Caravans and Swindon Caravan Centre have been excellent. Again like you my products have been Bailey , Swift and also Elldis. Equally Swindon CC gave me a fantastic deal on a new Izzy Capri Lux.

The Chipping Sodbury workshops are second to none and any failings on the part of Bailey have been rapidly resolved.

So why is poor Geordie having his problems ? Is it Lunar or the Dealer?

In these hard times and especially as Lunar is now totally British owned by their management you would have thought customer care and retention was even more important!

Cheers

Alan

Hi Geordie

Sorry to hear about your problems in getting a new battery box.

As Hamer said, you hear mainly about caravan problems on forums such as this.

Swift and Bailey monitor and contribute to this and other caravan forums and they have helped with problems involving their products via forums. They have taken steps in the right direction regarding customer care and product reliability but the after sales care is for your dealeship to address and your 'contract' is with the dealer.

I hope you get it sorted out, good luck.

Thanks for replies, glad to hear not all manufacturers/dealers fail to recognise the benefits, not only to the customer but also to themselves,of good customer relations.

Latest in my tale of woe is that the dealer (Campbells) say they have received a delivery from Lunar (it might as well be the moon!)but they cannot tell me whether the box is there as they need to "stock take" the delivery and will need a couple of days to do this.

You'd think after all this time they would make a special effort to find out!

Sorry to hear of your problems - you would think that this dealer who is only ten minutes away from the Lunar factory would be better placed than most to get parts but unfortunately it is not the case as I have found myself with my own Lunar - parts for my last van, a Bailey, arrived at another local dealer in a matter of a week or two on several occasions - it certainly makes you think twice about what to buy next time

Geordie i know how frustrating trying to get things fixed and a company dragging its heels, i wait almost 2 years for a furniture company to replace a damaged sofa cushion cover!however since we rarely hear of the good things that happen i purchased a new Coachman Highlander 5 berth from Crossburn Caravans in Peebles in January and i have to say that i am really pleased with it - everything works and there is no snagging list, even the owners are really pleasant. would buy another van from them.
