Converting 7 pin to 13 pin electrics

My new caravan has 13 pin electrics whilst my car has 7 pin, 7n and 7s sockets.

How easy is it to change from the 7 pin plugs to the 13pin continental socket.

I have tried a convertor but it didn't work-may have been faulty and only seemed to use 5 wires from 7s socket

Maybe this is better!!

There are some variations between 13 core cable colours, the above appear to be the most popular.

May be worth considering getting a 13 pin socket fitted to the car. These sockets are much better than the 7 pin type as they have a quarter turn screw engagement and the pins are kept clean and dry. It could be your converter is continental where they seem to use less pins and rely on commoning the "earth" or 12v. negative returns.

Hi

My car & van have the Euro 13pin connections - far better than the uk plug & sockets:

Watertight connection

Plug has a 1/4 turn twist to engage - it is locked into postion and cannot come out

Only 1 wire

Best advice - have an auto electrician fit a 13 pin socket to your car.
