Corner Steady Winder

I bought a tiny electric screwdriver from Homebase this year, thinking it might just do as a corner steady winder. Unbelievably, it does, despite only having a 3.6 V Lithium ion battery. It is so small it fits in the palm of my hand. The manufacturer is XTREME and the model number is CSD36L. It easily winds the corner steadies up and down. There is also a lock position which allows the steadies to be given a final couple of turns. The battery lasts for at least three wind-up/wind-down sessions and recharges in a few hours. It comes with a set of screwdriver bits and a tin box, all for under £25. I can highly recommend it. It's also extremely useful around the house (and caravan) as a screwdriver. I had to make up an adaptor to take the standard extended socket for the corner steadies. I used a standard socket from a socket set and a couple of other standard adaptors I had lying about in the garage. It has lasted all season so far, including a five week tour of France, so seems to be up to the job. Also, Lithium ion batteries don't discharge when stored and the charge can be topped up anytime, unlike NiCad batteries.

Hello Will and will

I had the same problem with JohnG hence the Watson

The site should be able to pick up people registering with a name already in use but sadly it doesn't

And then do it again when someone else takes your name in vain

Many sites will not allow the same name to be chosen

I changed to Watson(JohnG) from JohnG because another JOHNG appeared.

As it stands another Watson(JohnG)or plumb bob could appear unchecked
