Can anyone recommend a good peaceful site in Cornwall for summer? We'd like something with a decent rating, maybe even one of those David Bellamy awards for conservation (usually means they're cleaner), with a shop for newspapers and a bar for the evenings. Country views are beneficial.

We have (or will have in a couple of weeks) a fairly large caravan so level pitches are important.

Thanks in advance.

Hi David,

I would reccommend Penrose Farm, Goonhavern, Truro. See www.penrosefarm.co.uk.

Very friendly quiet site, for families or couples only. Great childrens play area. The kids can also help feed the animals ( Rabbits, Guinea pigs, etc). On site shop, clean toilets and showers. Dishwashing area.

The owner is a keen horticulturalist and looks after the site well. There is good drainage on the site if the weather turns for the worst. We stayed there just after the Boscastle disaster and although the site was muddy in parts, due to the weather, after a couple of days we were able to put the welly's away and get out the flip-flops!

Regards Allan

Hi David,

Sorry forgot to mention, sadly there is no bar on the site. However there is a very nice pub in the village, only 5 min walk.

Hi David,

I would recommend Wooda Farm Park, Bude. www.wooda.co.uk

This does have a David Bellamy Award along with others.

Lovely site clean & friendly. Has a bar where you can have a bar meal or there is a restaurant.

Dog friendly, child friendly lovely play area. Lovely views, shop for the papers and also a takeaway. Theres also a short 9 hole golf course. The only draw back with this site there's not much for teenagers an no pool.

Hope this helps.

Lisa

Hi David, Carnon Downs Near Truro is a great site, David bellamy gold award. We have used this site for the past 4 years for our winter break. The bar is across the road in the local 2 min walk (or 10 min stagger back)

Try Merrose farm with the caravan club. Really quiet, great facilities, local beaches (lots of coves) only 5 mins drive. Had 3 weeks last summer, nothing but sunshine, fabulous! Only down side is the drive to a supermarket about 1/2 hr each way even when taking the King harry ferry (voted third best river crossing in the world! www.kingharryferry.co.uk) across from the roseland peninsula to truro. There is also a pub The roseland inn at Phileigh about 2 miles away that the Guardian voted as being the best food in cornwall outclassing top restaurants, I can recommend as being excellent, pricey but excellent and you need to book in the evenings no matter what night. There is also the roseland inn in st mawes winner of best seafood, trelisick gardens, trebah gardens, lost gardens of heligan, smugglers cottagehttp://www.tolverneriverfal.co.uk/. Falmouth across the estuary with a ferry. Fab time had by all, my kids loved and if you are a keen road cyclist will find the hills challenging or plently of good walks.
