Cost effective repair to secateurs

For my 60 th birthday my BIL gave me a pair of Felco (Swiss) by pass secateurs. The design is a classic hardly changing in 70 years. I have looked after them but they were looking a bit “tired” and my wife had largely adopted them. So BIL asked me what I would like for my forthcoming birthday, so I said I would give it some thoughts. Well as the Felcos were 15 years old I thought I’d look at what was on their website. I came to a section that covered repair and refurbishment and that there were approved repair agents in countries. So I found the UK one in Leicester. They offered a full refurbishment service for £25 including pp and return tracked courier. So I sent mine away. They were away around three weeks and arrived back yesterday. I couldn’t believe how good they looked almost brand new and with new plastic handle covers. So for half the price of a new pair these should last me until I am ninety. 😂

Details of the UK refurbishment company are below

Have a look at the units branded as Wilkinson Sword. They bear much more than a passing resemblance to the Felco's and cost about 1/3 the price!

Exactly my thoughts, mine are Wilkinsons and look identical. I refurbrushed them a few weeks back using my dads very very old oil stone. They work very well.

But I see that the Felco have a good name a and a variety of styles.
