If you make your destination Saint Pere Pescador - which is 40 or so miles after crossing the border - you'll find several sites; some huge ones with bells and whistles and with beach attached to the site; whilst others are smaller sites only a short walk from the beach. The beach there is broad and fairly flat with loads of free parking anywhere along the back of the beach. All the sites have a shop attached but in the town there's a well stocked supermarket with filling station.

It's the last site mentioned that we have used man times and I can recommend it.

Hi Jimi,

A favourite of ours is Camping Playa Brava, near Pals.

http://www.playabrava.com/?module=inici&lang=uk
Great beach, accessed direct from the site. On-site cafe is OK but nothing to write home about, but there is a good restaurant only 2 minutes walk away.

Good sized pitches, lots of them fully serviced. Mix of pitches with shade and pitches with little shade.

Cheers

Jimi, Have you looked at Blanes. Quite a few campsites some are also beach front. We go to El Pina which is right on beach at far end of Blanes. Sites are right in town with chioce of resturants shops bars etc So if your like me like a tipple or two during the day no need to drive. Bus or tourist train stops right outside sites and runs until late at night which takes you into old town again with more shops resturants & pretty port area. Large market on mondays also fruit market in old town plus evening markets. Train station in town with free parking to Barcelona city takes about an hour good day out. Large supermarkets like Lidl, Adli, Spa, %Discount & fuel all take credit cards 10min drive away Toss-de-mare & Callea old town 30mins drive away well worth a visit.

Hi Jimi.

If you are looking for a large site with its own beach, very large pool, large super market, bars, restuarants, take away, family entertainment with large pitches and very clean tiolet and shower blocks on the Costa Brava...There is only one to consider...The Green Dolphin

Hope this has helped

Hi, I have stayed at both camping international Calonge and El Delfin Verde twice, The last time at Delfin Verde, was the end of july 2007, the campsite was packed to capacity, and basically nearly every caravanner out of Holand was on site, the Dutch are friendly, and holiday through July each year and are very keen caravanners. But it was quite overwelming, I only counted a couple of English cars all week. The intial pitch I was given was tiny, however they did sort me out a better one,( twin axle swift Conqueror at the time)

I was there with my teennage daughters and found that the supermarket served underaged teenagers alcohol, each evening just before closing, these teenagers then went to the beach, we were all young once, but I was quite surprised at the size of the groups partying on the beach every night! My only real negative issue, and it was height of season.Beach is long and wide and can get windy.

Last summer I actually flew to the Costa Brava and stayed at Camping Intercalonge, for the last two weeks in August, all the statics were full, however the touring pitches had plenty of availablity.

Your certainly get fit there, its on a side of a hill, excellent beach on site, great snorkling, and plenty of choice down in the town restaurant wise, may go back next year, if I can face the drive.Locally it is good for visting a different beach /cove each day, all within a 30-40min drive, and would suggest it is proberly more centrally positioned.

Paul.

I fully agree with Jean. I am postng this from L'amfora, my only complaint is that the trees are getting rid of some white fluffy stuff (don't know what it is) it seems like it is snowing. Apart from that it is a lovely site, If we come back down this way I would stop here but leave it till a couple of weeks later.
