Costly mistake

Just back from 12 days in Peterborough and had a nose arround Pioneer Caravans.
They have a 2013 Eternity Genesis IB4 in stock for £18k. It is serial number 001.
Speaking to the salesman it seems that the owner tried to tow it with a Kia Sedona which has a towing limit of 2000kg and weighs approx 2100kg. The Eternity has a MIRO of 1959 and a MTPLM OF 2200KG. No wonder he had trouble towing the Eternity.
If the caravan is for sale at £18k the seller probably got £15k so made a loss of about £15k in less than a yeart Not a bad buy for the next owner but as I also have a Sedona it is not for me.

Caravans do hold their value better than cars though, we even just about mad a profit on one. That would have been in the early 90,s when we got £50 more for our Trophy than we paid for it. The dealer sold it within a couple of weeks as well so they did well out of it too.
Our last caravan an Argente cost just over £16,000 and six years later went for just over£9,000 which compared with the car at £17,000 down to £4,500 after five years seems to be a positively wonderful result.
Times change but we have always seen the caravans hold their value reasonably well.

THANKS FOR THAT , I MUST GO TO THEM DEALERS WHO ARE BAD BOYS. :silly: Not the guy i got it from he gave me a good deal, ? been looking at caravans in other dealers and asked what they would give me part ex for mine.
we payed £5500 for our 2003 ELDDIS ODDYSY 432 IN NOV 2013, now told it is worth £2,500 by 2 dif dealers , that is why i asked the Q

£5500 is the buying price, £2500 is the selling price.
The difference between them is the dealer's cut. 😱hmy:

Also its nearly a year older and selling in September is near the end of caravanning year for many people, hold on to it til April and you might do better 🙂
