Help,

We are going to take our Grand daughter with us in the van very soon, and need advice on cots etc. She is 6 months old and crawls, pulls herself up etc. We have an island fixed bed with front seating which, I was thinking of making up as a double and then fitting one of the child guards I have seen in John Lewis. Our Daughter in Law is questioning could she pull herself up and fall out/down etc. Our grandaughter will soon be sleeping over at our house so I don't mind buying a cot that will do both jobs for the next few months. Any Ideas most welcome.

When small people crawl everywhere and don't understand "stay in bed and go to sleep" then to be safe you really need a travel cot. There are some pretty neat folding models available.

Our grandson is 19mths old and we have a mobible cot but unfortunately the cot is to big for the area in between the seating area at the front so we too would apreciate any help with cots etc. We thought of a child rail like the blue one in argos but my daughter thinks he will just climb over it. Anyone solved this problem?

Hi Frank, I was going to suggest a travel cot, but they do fold out quite large like a normal wooden cot, if only they would make a travel cot just slightly slimmer to fit, very handy to have for the home they fold away quite neatly. Mosses Cot not much use as you say your grandchild is 6 months old now.

I can only suggest she sleeps between you and Val. This way Val would get a good nights sleep hehehe Regards Liz

Try again,

Off to John Lewis in the morning if I see anything suitable I will post again tomorrow. We have the builders in at the moment so I can get the joiner to adapt a normal cot/bed to fit in between the front seats. Anyone know if the foam matress that is quite hard and moulds to your body is suitable for small children ????? I was thinking of buying a single and cutting it to size.

Liz I will need to ask Val if she wants a good nights sleep!!!!!.

Hi Val and Frank. When my son was little we were able to use our travel cot positioned between the long seats at the front of the van. We bought our cot in Lidl, it was narrower than most British makes so fitted nicely. Also, I would not recommend using the 'moulded' mattresses for babies as they are self-heating and would be dangerous for the baby.

Hi All

We are looking at a Baby Dan Guard from J Lewis. It slips under the seating and Kates weight would hold it in place. I was out at the van today measuring up and it's the perfect length for the front seats. Still have the problem she may climb over it but hopefully with the slats pulled out and a foam mattress on them, she won't go far. So if you should see a very pretty 10 month old girl, waving as you pass our Van in the summer. It's just Kate up with the birds, and she has worked out how to open the curtains and the blinds!!!!!!!!!!!

neil. thanks for the link interesting stuff
