Couple of issues

Hello!

We were away in our tourer on the first bank holiday in May and have just came away again today and for some reason we have a couple of issues which we didn’t have last time. Hoping someone can help:

1. Toilet flusher isn’t working and isn’t even making the motor noise when the buttons pressed.
2. Sinks don’t seem to be draining very quickly even though the caravan’s level (according to my spirit level which I use daily). This is very noticeable on the bathroom sink where it’s immediately filling up faster than it can drain away.

Caravan is a Bailey Ancona 2024.

Also managed to snap a bed slat last time we were away. A singular slat wont take 14+ stone of weight for future reference people! Are they something which can be easily sourced? Caravan dealer said we’d have to buy a full set of slats but we only need one.

Cheers!

The flush motoris probably stuck, a very common issue. Turn the bathroom light on and then press the flush button. If tge light dims slightly that proves the motor has stuck. It's a simple fix, there's bound to be a tutorial on YouTube.
As for the drain there's probably "something" partially blocking the drain, try using something to poke around tge drain from tge outside.

The toilet might be a fuse or a failed pump. Need to test the continuity.

Sludge may have dried in the drain. You might try flushing the drain through. I use a hose pipe held in the plug hole with a rag. Also block other plug holes on the same drain.

Keep a check on the drains joins, they can easily force apart, but easily push back together.

At the start of each season I have to remove the flush pump to free it up as something makes it bind. I haven't used any flush fluid for years as that seemed to make things worse, but it still sticks.

The waste pipes under the caravan were poorly installed with slopes going the wrong way. I moved them around to make things better.

Bed slates....another example of poor design. Previous motorhome had the same problem and I had to reinforce them. On my current caravan, the slates on the front bed looked too wide between the runners to me, so even before using it I made an additional support to place under the middle.

Try eBay or Amazon for the bed slats. I have bought them for a bed in the house. You can modify them for the caravan if they are not quite right. Worth a look.

Are you draining into a waste master or into a drain? I always go fully serviced and sometimes the fall to the drain is an issue and it backs up to the caravan because it's not getting down the drain.

I fully agree with everything others have said. For the sink blocking I have a small sink plunger which I need to use at least once a week when away in the van, bad pipe routing.

I would pour a couple of bowls of hot water down the sink especially as we were packing up to return home or move to another site. Seemed to keep things sweet.

We used Puriclean. We would lift up the drain pipe to prevent water running out the drain holes and pour the solution down the drain and leave for about 30 minutes or longer. Do not sue Milton if you have a steel basin.
