The app is bound to use more battery as it has to be constantly monitoring. But I suggest some people need to check their battery. I leave my phone on 24/7, it’s on charge all night, but only uses 20% during the day.

Mine's a new battery - although the phone signal is poor at home.

Although bacterial is not the same as viral Infection. The two part, channel 5 program ‘the great plague’ which finished tonight but will be on catch up. Is really worth a look. Similarities to today are clear. Despite being 350 years ago. Also, the recorded detail of the time is amazing.

Totally agree Beachball; can't believe they thought they could go ahead with it without restrictions on numbers which from the pictures seems to be what they did.

Had a 12 monthly routine review with my GP today by phone and when I asked about the normal blood tests there was a hesitant pause. ” Better get a nurses appointment this week as next week onwards we are losing staff” Clearly the Covid jabs are getting going without delay. My bloods are now today. Cracking service.

Yesterday we needed to go to Boots for some medication and Boots is located in the Malvern shopping Mall. The number of people not bothering with masks while walking past people was quite astounding considering we are in tier 2. They are passing within less than 2m of other people.
OH was wearing a mask from time of leaving car, standing in queue outside Boots and return to car.
Sad part is that Boots did not have the medication although the website indicated it was in stock. Wasted 28 mile round trip!

Essex is in Tier 2, with people hoping to go down to Tier 1... We've had to drive around the town to go elsewhere, and since last Wednesday and the traffic with people shopping is terrible... Far from Tier 1, with the cases rocketing in schools, we'll be in Tier 3 before Christmas.

As considered as vulnerable I imaging you will be prioritised for the vaccine, and rightly so.

But it gives me a problem.

I was also classed as shielded and vulnerable early in the year. I did not know why so made enquires to be told it was because of my heart failure. I said to the unusually rude doctors receptionist that that was news to me, but she insisted that that is what my note said so it must be true. I had to strongly insist that she had it looked at by a doctor. When she did the doctor told me to take no notice of it. But I wanted to find out why my notes said this.

I have access to my history through a couple of apps. Both give summaries and both vary. But on examination I discovered I had the following:

Moderator Note: List of ailments removed.

I found this all a bit frightening. The practice head of IT has had to go over my records and correct them. The reasons I have been given are, inexperience data entry. . I had an operation which used the word bipolar in its description. When inputted into my records the operation title could not be matched so it matched the one word it recognised.

Frightening how easy it is to have a very false history. I have received strong apologies but I now have no confidence in my records, or the records of anyone else at our surgery. But we did look through my wife’s which seem accurate.

Despite this I remain on the vulnerable list. This has not been an issue, I just receive the advice letters directed to the vulnerable.

But I strongly suspect that I will now jump the queue for the jab. I don’t want to, but don’t seem to be able to change the priority.

Those incorrect records could have led to the incorrect medication being prescribed resulting in a serious side effect to yourself. It should never have happened. I never knew it was possible access your medical records or how to go about it.
A few years ago at our local surgery there was one very rude receptionist who insisted on you telling her your problems and issues before making a booking to see a doctor. Numerous complaints later and she left. No receptionist should be asking personal details why you want to see a doctor as most do not have any medical qualifications!

Incorrect records could lead to problems if anyone had to claim on travel insurance.
Both our last health Center and current one asked a set of questions when asking to make an appointment with the doctor. It was made clear that you could decline to answer, so not a problem for me. The questions asked help the reception direct you one or other of the doctors who may specialise in specific areas of conditions. Ie cardio-vascular, diabetes, neuro etc.

Most of our GP receptionists and other staff are great, this was a very odd one.

To access your records there are two ways. They both present them differently and I also I found a little info on one different than the other.

There is the NHS app. This takes a bit of security checking to get to. I had to send a picture of my passport for vetting.

The other may vary across the country, I don’t know. It is via a web site called ‘System on line’ or it’s app AIRMID, (note mid not med as might be expected). These might have to be set up by your surgery. They also have an appointment making facility.

In my opinion, all of them are very poor interfaces and not easy to negotiate.

The Surgery one, in our case, is what we are now directed to for appointments, but not now for doctors during the pandemic, just nurses and other support. For doctors you need to negotiate a ridiculous 111 type questionnaire. Which continually ask questions unrelated to the condition.

After my record mess up I would advise anyone to check their records.

Our surgery uses “SystmOnline” which with only two clicks and into the auto password feature then you can access a number features such as nurse appointments, personal records, repeat prescriptions etc. Another service provided online is a comprehensive symptom checker, with recommendations for further action. Of course if you don’t agree you can then make arrangements as normal for a doctors appointment.
When the online system went libevi checked my records and had no inaccuracies.

I use system online to make appointments which are more or less never, I order repeat prescriptions for both myself and my wife, I can look at everything that is on my records right back to immunisation records from my childhood, my wife was until recently responsible for people’s records at a surgery that has a patient list of 12k people, at that surgery you have to request access and you choose a brief history of your records or a full view of everything, because my wife worked there she chose not to be a patient there but was on the list for another surgery, not ideal talking to doctors while at work and then going to see one of them about personal matters, at her doctors it’s a brief look or nothing, thankfully she has taken voluntary redundancy, doctors surgeries are high stress level occupations, for all the staff and not just for doctors.

This link points to the options available in system online. Click on the 4 headings for a description of each.

A good friend is the chair of our patient group. She reports that the surgery are not happy with the ease or functionality.

They also have a problem with the newish system for consultations, that’s called econsult. There is a link from the surgeries website. It then tries to take you to the NHS website. If you don’t have an account that can take about 4 hours. And it requires some IT knowledge. Not great to get quick advice.

So what should be simple and user friendly could mean:-

  • Go to System Online to try to get an appointment. (But there are none for doctors).
  • That will direct people to the AIRMID app. But same problem.
  • Next the Surgeries website! That will take you to econsult. But in turn that will try to direct you to the NHS app! (It does not make it clear that you can continue as a guest).
  • When you eventually get to econsult it just a mass of often, unrelated questions.

I saw a GP about 10 days ago after going though the process. Later I received a text to make a follow up appointment. Trouble is, there is no provision for follow ups. Your expected to start from scratch.

To avoid any potential diversions to incorrect websites or confusing areas the actual medical one being discussed is called SystmOnline. The link above takes visitors to SystmInsight which is really for health center administration.

Tye link below is the user guide.

My link is correct. You need to click on the 4 products for the descriptions of each. As said, click on the headings.

It should not confuse, just show the significant differences between the two ‘user’ areas. (the two in the middle). Try again.

Here is a screen shot.
