We spent a couple of days at Craig Tara over the Easter break. The main Haven complex is situated at the bottom of a steep hill and the touring pitches are situated at the top of the hill so take your climbing boots (or the car if you don't feel to energetic). The touring site is mainly hardstanding with room for approx 30 caravans. The toilet facilities are located in a dilapidated Portakabin complex and not what you would expect for the price that you would pay. On arrival you check in at the office attached to the front of this Portakabin and speak to 'Uncle Bob' the site warden, a very cheery and helpful chap. You will still have to register at the main reception (down the hill you go) but try and avoid it around 3pm as that is when the latest influx for the holiday homes arrive and it becomes a scrum in the reception area. If you are putting up an awning please ensure that you have decent pegs as the ground on some of the hardstandings, although chipped, may have tarmac under them. I used the large nail type pegs that went straight into it.

Dan,

We stay approximately an hour a way from Craig Tara and thought this would be an ideal site for weekends away with our two yung kids (4&7). The touring area is set at the furthest away point possible, the toilet/shower facilties are awful. When we arrived there was a no-one at the touring-check in area -just a notice to phone a mobile number for assistance. We phoned the mobile number which rang out and eventually went on to an answering service. We ended up un-hitching the van and going down into the main reception to get some one - who told us to just pick which ever pitch we wanted! The pitches are not ideal for awnings - whether you have steel pegs or not.

Take Mac's advice and cancel if you can, because I certainly wouldn't recommend Craig Tara to anyone as a touring site.
