Any idea why my van creaks from around the tow ball when turning? the ball is clean and the stabilizer also has no oil or grease inside...

I started to get a creaking early this year. Having checked the obvious nuts and bolts to make sure everthing seemed safe I put it down to the Alko Stabaliser pads. There is no wear on them though.
I'll also be interested in any suggestions, although I suspect that a service dealer may be able to put our minds at rest.

It is usually the pads and sometimes the only cure is to bite the bullet and get a new set. They are not that expensive. Alternatively, grin and bear it.
I had the same trouble and changed the Alko Pads but the creaking and groaning continued.
I was advised to change the Tow Ball as it had a few marks on it.
I did so and havent had any noise at all since doing so!!

following on from what damian has said sometimes the alko can creak in warm weather purely because there is no ajustment on the pads and in warm weather "the balls bigger due to expansion)
and the pads grip tighter not much but enough to make it creak on slow manouvers also rub the ball with fine emery paper to take out any imperfections.

Mine used to creak when damp or wet. Now I always give it a really good rub with a dry cloth like an old t-shirt before hooking up. Never had a problem since.
I recently investigated creaking from the stabilizer on my 4 month old Swift. The front pad was cracked right through.
Dealer said it was a fair wear & tear issue not warranty so had to buy a new one. It was only a few quid but still annoying as it was tear alright but not wear and certainly not fair after 4 months. I think I will send it to ALKO to see what they say.

I had the same noise approx 6 months after buying a new van, found it to be small amounts of rust on the ball, a wire brush and some elbow grease soon stopped the creak.
