Credit Card Fraud

Received a call from Frizzell asking them to contact them. Asked if I had tried to withdrawin money on my card. Turned out that someone somehow had copied my card and obtained my PIN and was withdrawing money. The card had never left my possession, the last time it was used had been for fuel at one of the major supermarkets where you actually go into the shop to pay (not one of the machines at the pump) The card was promptly cancelled and a disclaimer forn sent to me which showed that £750 had been withdrawin. Thankfully I was not out of pocket but am grateful that credit card company was on the ball. The matter was reported to both the police and the manager of the supermarket involved. Shows you cannot be too careful

God, that's terrible. Simley has just had a bit of a prob with Frizzell. I think they put money into her account in error, just thought I'd mention it as it's the same organisation.

Hi William,

I,too, had a call from Frizzell a couple of weeks ago asking me to cut up my credit card as there were signs of fraud although they said my account had been checked and was thought to be O.K. I wasn't sure if the call was genuine so phoned Frizzell who confirmed it was genuine and that a new card would be sent. It has.

It seems to be getting worse out there. I have had an email from Halifax telling me to log on and check my details for fraud. I'm not with the Halifax.

Email from PayPal saying exactly the same and telling me if I didn't, my account would be suspended. This from PayPal in America, not UK. Strangely someone has deposited $0.10 in the account.

I have run programs for spy ware and found key loggers invading my computer and a virus undetected by Norton.

So I recently changed all my passwords and any log on details, but how long before it all unravels again?

Criminals don't have to tap you on the back of the head and run off with your money any more. They can do it from the comfort of their own home. Lazy criminals, what's the world coming to?

I had my debit card cloned at a filling station, within days a pensioner made the local paper as he had had his card cloned at the same filling station.

I went into the local branch of Lloyds Bank to report what had happened as soon as I got my statement, whereupon one of the cashiers asked if i had used this filling station as apparently two of the banks employees had their cards cloned after using the same filling station?

I contacted the station owners ( a large retail chain that used to pay `dividends`) and asked if it was normal to have no less than four young asian youths behind the counter when there was normally only one operative, in view of the fact that my card was `used` all over the north of England the following day after I had used their station?

Basically I was told that unless I could prove who did it,I shouldn`t waste their time. When asking about the other cloning incidents attributed to their site, the reply was along the lines of "I`d like to see them prove it".

Unfortuntely, it`s becoming a way of life.

Just be careful, and be selective where you spend your money.
