Croatia (again)

Having read all the last 37 pages on Croatia and Germany covering the last 18 months, can the people that travelled there in 2005 please summarise their experience. Which area/site, things to do etc. and was the distance worth it. We are planning a trip in August 2006 with 2 children. This taking us through Germany/Austria from Zeebrugger. Also any suggestions of stop overs. Many Thanks
 
We were in Croatia in 2004 and were frankly a little disappointed. We had ourselves partly to blame for going in the off-season (May) because a lot of the amenities were still closed. And don't go expecting any sandy beaches. Camping sites tend to be enormous (over 1000 pitches is not uncommon) - a legacy from the old communist era.

Like I've said in a previous post on the same subject, it's OK and perhaps worth going if you've been everywhere else but I wouldn't go a second time.
