We travel to Bosnia via Croatia every year the way I would go is Calais France Brussels Liege, Belgium Aachen Frankfurt Germany Villach Austria Ljubljana Slovenia into Croatia

obviously you do not go through all the towns mentioned as from Calais to ljublijana it is all motorway and these towns are sign posted.

you will need to by the tax disc for Austria and Slovenia where you can get them at service stations at about 50 km prior to the borders or purchase them at the border.

you can pay everywhere in Euro's however Croatia prefer to work with Krona and if you do pay in Euro's you will get your change in Krona

If your travelling to Split you will go from Ljubljana to Zagreb and then Zagreb to Karlovac you have to pay on the motorway from Zagreb to Karlovac then from Karlovac you take the coastal road heading towards split this is not a good road and if you do take this one I suggest that every 20Km you pull over and let traffic over take otherwise you will find people trying to over take you even with oncoming traffic.

If there is anything else in particular you would like to know let me know and if I can help I will

We never stay in Croatia as we have family in Bosnia which means we go through Croatia along the coast road to Split and turn of before Plitvici National Park

But rest assured there are so many nice places in Croatia to see and very enjoyable you may wish to try this site to give you some idea about camp-sites www.campingcroatia.net/

However as I have never used any I cannot give any recomendations

The route that John gave you is exactly the way we used to go a few years back - been there many times.

We always used Camping Lanterna at Porec - look it up via google. Large site, toilets were always clean. Limited sunbathing area as rocky coastline, water crystal clear and the bay is beautiful.

Regards

Just took a look at Lanterna Camp site on U-Tube. It looks far too large now and brash, far too crowded too. Certainly not our scene now, so apologies for suggesting it.

Please also note that in Croatia the second language is not English when you get to the coast it should not be a problem because of tourism locals have picked up some of the language but elsewhere at toll booths police and shops on route not so good.

this should not be a problem but bear it in mind with a phrase book
