Curtain Rails

hi,

the front window curtains on my caravan are loose at the bottom and the buttons keep popping out. its getting a wee bit annoying for mrs mac, i looked at it and the rail seems to be opened up slightly at certain points. can i use pliers or something to give it a squeeze to see if it will close the gap, or will this break the rail.

cheers.

Hi,

I had the same problem and cured it by squeezing the rail together. However I heated the rail and then used a block of wood to apply even pressure along the damaged length. To heat it I used an electric heat gun, but I guess a hair dryer would work. I removed the curtains and fully opened the windows before doing this as the heat could have damage the window. Good luck.

As per David......

Also would add that if you are concerned about "forcing" rail under heat.......keep running a curtain hook along the channel to ensure you dont' do it too much.

If it is still a bit loose, try stitching a bit of elastic to the curtain(s) to take up slight slack......
