:( In our new Bailey caravan ('08) this weekend and the oven appears to be flubbered. Would it be covered by warranty and are they easy to replace please?

If you've had the van since new, ie 6 years ago, then probably not covered. If you bought the van used from a dealer within the last 12 months then it may be covered.

If not, then buy a replacement from a supermarket at tens of pounds. A caravan microwave is not a special device, just keep to low wattage and one with the same physical dimensions so it fits in the space.

Before you go and spend money on a new Microwave if Im not too late that is.Remove plug from power socket and replace 10 minutes later this works and is a tip in the hand book. Now I know ours is a Sanyo but it is worth a try .It might save you a few quid

In what way is it broken? I had a microwave once that seemed to work perfectly. It kept time and rotated food extremely well, it just wouldn't heat the food up. Not being one to be defeated by technology I took the case off and found a spade connector on the Magnetron had not been fitted properly and worked loose. I pushed it on properly and the microwave is still going 14 years later.
Don't touch any of that stuff with your bare hands!
But by the same token, don't be afraid to whip the case off and have a look - it might be something obvious.

The Daewoo microwave packed up in our 07 Senator a couple of weeks ago. It went through all the motions, light on, turntable turning and making the correct sound but it no longer heated anything. It would not even melt butter.
Bought a new microwave from Tesco for £32 and replaced the Daewoo. The old microwave is held in by two screws underneath. The piece of wood above the microwave needs to be removed - held in by four screws into the side. Remove the old microwave. It has a piece of wood screwed to it's underside to raise it's level in the compartment and this is also where the two screws underneath fix to.
I fitted the piece of wood to the new microwave, put it back in the compartment, made sure the door would open properly and fixed the two screws back underneath. I then fitted the piece of wood back above the microwave, which meant lowering it a bit and job done :)

HTH.

Graeme.
