damaged caravan - arrgh

Hi

We have just returned home in our lovely Avondale Mayfair 6 berth and whilst putting it on the drive in the dark, we have caught the rear left side on a bush which has pulled off the skirting? panel and split where it was attached to the frame with a screw - any suggestions to repairing this as I could scream through stupidity.

Kind Regards

Jadie

That does not sound too bad Jadie.

Is it the plastic/fibre glass only that is split? As long as nothing structural is damaged or the metal skin I think it should be fairly easy to repair and I would suggest you get the Haynes Caravan Manual or similar as I think they have section on repairs.

If you are not a competent DIY'er then a local body shop may be able to help. If you do have a go just make sure you get the correct repair kit - on most caravans some of the panels are plastic and others are fibre glass.

If the panel is totalled, then you may want to email/ring round the caravan breakers for a second-hand replacement panel.

You could even get a quote from a caravan repair shop!

But you will wait for ages for the parts, another age for the work to be done and you will need a holiday in your caravan to get over the size of the bill.

I have discovered a super chap near me (Warwickshire) who does repairs to bodywork and is brilliant and very reasonably priced.

his website is:http://caravanrepairs.wordpress.com/ or you can find him in yellow pages.

Hope this helps - he was a third of the price i had quoted elsewhere!
