Damp meter question

I've got a pronged moisture meter that I mostly use for checking our logs but from time to time I use it on the caravan. I can't really see any marks and the readings are in agreement with the last service a short while back.

I've just aquired a contactless moisture meter, which covers Soft and Hardwood and Masonry and Walls - whatever that means.

I've tried it on the caravan walls but get ridiculously low readings or even zero - on each of the modes - on the walls. On the wooden bits - cupboard doors and shelves etc and even my logs it gives a reading comparable with the pronged meter.

I know this works by trying to measure the dielectric constant but don't understand why it hardly responds to the caravan walls. It works ok on my house drywalls.

Any thoughts other than its rubbish.

Could it be the polymer coating on caravan walls, Wheras a pronged meter penetrates the coating.

What caravan have you. Has it got GRP wall lining

It's an Elddis 304.

Just a couple of weeks before getting this I also got a stud locator. It goes nuts on our foil backed dry wall. Tells me there's a mains cable present from about 30cm away from the wall. Mostly hopeless at finding studs but in some places it does work well.

According to Elddis specifications it is standard panels with wall paper so should show readings

Infrared thermometer will that work? Lidl have them in at the moment £10. They also have the damp meter you are talking about in.
