Damp test

Hi there,

Does anyone know how much a damp test costs or where i can get it done for free? How much does Barrons charge? I live in the Manchester area.

Thanks

I assume that the reason for the request is you would like to check out a potential purchase? If the van is already yours then any dealer will check for damp in the course of a service.

I doubt you will find anyone prepared to do this without a fee being payable as damp meters that the dealers use are quite expensive. You can buy a meter yourself but the quality may not be to professional standards and the readings therefore should be treated with caution.

I would sugest if you are trying to a deal privately that you make an offer subject to the van being checked by a reputable dealer. if it is ok, you pay the fee, if not, the seller does.

Damp meters are a waste of time and money as they dont really work and pick up the problems,Im getting quite a dab hand at finding wet and dry rot now without the aid of meters,Dont go to Barrons either,if you want i will share with you what i do to find problems with water leaks etc,
