Dartmoor & Newton Abbot

Hi Can anyone recommend a quiet site for a base in the Dartmoor area. We are hoping to go walking at Easter and thought the Bovey Tracey or Newton Abbot area might be OK but we are open to recommendations - there are just us 2 adults. Regards Linda

Hi Linda,

The one site that spring to mind will be the CC club site at Stover, it's very near Newton Abbot, and a stones throw from Dartmoor via Bovey Tracey. We used the site about four years ago and although has basic amenities (no loo block) we found it more than adequate for a weeks stay. It's actually next to the Stover Country Park, so if you have a dog, this is ideal for exercise as the site only has a small dog walk. The site is also within walking distance from Trago Mills as well, the road is fairly busy but is reasonably quiet at night.

Hope this is of some use.

Wendy

We use Bhundu caravan Site. Which is just of the A30 by Sourton Services at Okehampton. Lovely large pitches and has direct access to the old railway line which is now converted to a cycleway and footpath where you can go to Okehampton or Tavistock

Hi Wendy, thank you for this, I have seen the site in the CC Club book and wondered how close to everything it was, regards Linda

fantastic site near newton abbott is ross park we are going back this summer for the third year, trust me you wont be disappointed .take a look on their web site

You won't do better than the River Dart Adventure site near Ashburton.

LOADS to do, and a 5 start site!!

Highly reccommended. We live in Devon, and use this regularly through the summer. The children love it.

Please keep it quite about Ross Park there may not be any room for me? But Mark and Helen do know who is who when you ring for a pitch.Yes it is the best in the area Glenn

Last year we stayed at Woodville Caravan Park, it,s between Newton Abbot and Totnes, it,s adults only and is a lovely little site with extremely friendly owners. All pitches are hard standing and the site is kept in immaculate condition, we were very impressed.
