Dash Cam Worth

Can't get that link to work but this one does
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/11521993/Watch-Car-overtaking-error-leaves-caravan-destroyed.html

Mondeo man got it wrong. - did he go the wrong side of the island?

Think he spotted the island late and came inside it, might have been better going on the wrong side of it?
But it does show the value of evidence from a camera, use one in each of mine & the wifes vehicles, I even have one on my motor cycle. Fortunately never used any in anger, and hope I never have too.

From the info on the camera it looks like the wagon had come through the set of lights & mondeo man had attempted to get past before the r/hand lane closed back to one .... Can't understand why he didn't stand on the brakes rather than attempting that move.....

This shows the road layout

Looks like the driver has a lot of explaining to do ..... the wagon was doing 29.2 mph at impact ....

I wonder if he just 'forgot' that he had the van on the back. If not then it was a very odd thing to try whilst towing. i am always amazed that the tow hitch doesn't shear. My last car was a mondeo and I know that it had a lot of bottom end grunt and could really pull away from roundabouts and such. Lost count of the number of cars which cut me up like that, desperate to get in front, but I just 'let them get on with it'. I also have a dashcam now.

I've only had my cheap dash cam a month and already its picked up two near misses, one with me, and another involving a lorry, this was defiantly the lorries fault.

Unlike the OP where the nutter overtaking was on a death wish trip.

At the moment I'm using the dash cam in my sunroom to record the builders putting up a wall for me.
I recommend every one fits one.
Mines a G1WH.

.

I bought a dash cam a couple of days ago and have tried it out in the car. It has a motion detector in it and stops recording (to save memory) when stationary at junctions or traffic lights. As such, mine wouldn't be able to record builders or neighbours. πŸ™ Not sure how good it would be if hit by another car whilst stationary.
