Dashcam falling off sticky pad

About a month to 6 weeks ago we bought a Nextbase 633GW dashcam. It was fitted by Nextbase representatives. The mount is a sticky pad onto the windscreen. Unfortunately with all this hot weather the dashcam kept falling off as the heat made the glue loosen. When driving and it falls down it can startle you as you catch it out of the corner of your eye and instinct says "danger".

I contacted Nextbase as we had bought directly from them and they offered to send another sticky pad. I contacted them again I mentioned that in this heat we will probably have the same issue again. I also mentioned that my previous 422GW had a suction mount and although it did fall off in hot weather it was nowhere as frequent as the sticky pad.

In addition to the sticky pad they are sending us, they are also sending a suction mount free of charge. Excellent service and nice to come across this sort of after sales service in this day and age. Sadly they are out of stock at present probably due to numerous other people having a similar issue, but I can wait.

Cheers for the good news. I had a 522 he three weeks ago. Sticky mount 😢
Halfords stock the suction mount plus sticky pad selling at £20 . Buying direct from Nextbase £4.99 for suction mount and £4.99 for sticky pad although all are out of stock! I think delivery is free?

In my experience, the suction mounts will fail every so often as well. I recommend a lanyard of some sort onto the mirror just to save the day.

Strangely we have never had it fall off while driving unlike the sticky pad.

Mine has not fallen off many times. About half a doz. One time it set the alarm off. Twice whilst driving. And one time it marked the cars display screen. I have used a dashcam for about 15 years. The Nextbase is more secure than many.

Might be down to my spit!

I eventually found that if I clean the inside of the windscreen with an alcohol wipe and then Smear the suction pad with washing up liquid, and attach the suction pad in the cooler evening time, they hold on much longer.

Never did the washing up part but use the spectacle wipes from Lidl to clean the suction, then a bit of spit and generally it would stay on for a lot longer than a few hours.

I have fitted the new sticky pad in the meantime until the suction mounts become available again. As said excellent service from Nextbase.

I have the suction mount, it falls off very occasionally, usually when its exceedingly hot. After a lot if experimenty I..........

Clean the glass with autoglym glass cleaner
Then use a drop of Meths to clean it again
Use a drop or 2 of water to moisten the suction pad. (spit doesn't work as well, and it leaves a deposit when dry)
Push the suction pad very firmly onto the glass (avoiding any of the black dots on the glass) and only then use the lever to increase the suction.

The above process greatly reduces the frequency of the camera falling off, but at least when it does can reattach it and I don't have to buy a new sticky pad!,

My Nextbase cam fell off when the sticky pad got hot one day, I cleaned the screen and the mount and reattached it to the screen with one of these cut to size

Just to make it clear it was not between the windscreen and the pad, but between the pad and the actual mount which made it moore difficult to reattach. Sorry for any confusion.
