Oh no - can't stand Alfa's in any shape or form - had a bad experience once and put me right off them. Similar hate to Renault as a result of the Dauphine.

Are but the Alfa Sud and the Spyder were something else!

What a shame the Sud in particular rotted away in less than three years! Most never got to see their first MOT!

I am sure modern ones such as the 147 and 156 are better.

But classics? - time will tell. Who ever thought an Austin A35 could be loved as a classic. And I loathed the Morris 1000 I had - It was awful!

But now - if a nice Traveller came up I would have it.

We really are a long way off topic, but my best car was an Aston Martin which competed in the 1923 French grand prix, Count Zborowski. Unfortunately I was a penniless student then and when the gearbox started playing up I had to sell it as it was my everyday transport. I got 125 pounds for it which was great as it only cost me 100.

Oh James - don't start me on that topic! - not so much cars with me but motorbikes

I had and virtually gave aware - a couple of Bantams - a Tiger Cub, a Tiger 90 (probably the nicest if a tad underpowered), a Norton Navigator, a Norton Dominator, and the most awesome of all a Norton Commando Fastback.

If I still had a few of them now - but the Japanese bikes came and nobody wanted a bike with a vertically split crankcase (tis a ludicrous idea when you think about it!) that leaked oil everywhere.

Why did I just not store them? I sold them for peanuts!

You know, I reckon I should of held onto my Renault 25 in that case. It was still competative with the large fords and vw etc even today and considering the last one rolled off the production line 14 years ago that's not bad.

Or maybe I'll hang on to the Renault 5 campus I use to go to work in. The clio came from that humble begining.

******, where's a crystal ball when you need it. Probably replaced by poly carbonate now I supose. !!??

Clive my uncle passed away approx 5 years ago and just prior to his death he offered me FOC his 1949 Scott 600cc. water cooled bike. I have no interest in motor bikes so declined the offer. He eventually gave it to one of his neighbours. The bike would start on the first kick - KKB 889 - wonder where it is now?

Memories, I used to have a company Bantam which needed changing every day when I worked on the building of the M2. The ground was all chalk and clogged the mudguards. Loved my Tiger Cub when I was a student and also a BMW at the age of 45, which was too late really. At age 16 had a 1926 James and went into the back of a truck on my first day on the road. Used to a bicycle with 2 handbrakes for emergencies. Caught something rather painful on the handlebars and put a plaster on it. What a disaster lol.
