Just heard from my dealer (Swift) that Thomson Plastics are the latest to go down the pan. They supply the shower enclosures for some of the manufacturers. This may be delaying the delivery of some vans.

Dear All,

More sad news, but since this happened a few weeks back, we've spoken to all the manufacturers and despite some short-term supply problems, they are all back on track now. Some bought the moulds off the administrator, others have made new moulds but production is getting back to normal.

Hope that puts minds at rest

Regards

Thanks for the in depth info Nigel, it's always nice to get the inside information. Hope Swift are back on target as we had expected delivery to our dealer on the 10th.March and obviously getting anxious as we have booked a holiday in anticipation of it's arrival.

Thanks again

Jim

The original company, Thompson Plastics, went bust in December and transferred production with some delays to Thompson Technik - but they went bust in February, causing further delays.

Where caravan manufacturers didn't own the tooling, they've bought it from the Receiver but there are still delays finding suppliers who can use the tooling.

Talk to any dealer about a model they don't have in stock and you'll find that delays are as bad as normal - despite the economic downturn. This isn't helped by many dealers having their Stock Loans withdrawn or cut back so there's little 2009 stock around and many dealers seem to have gaps in their 2009 demonstrator line-ups.
