hello John,ProfJohnL said:Hello Colin,
Damian only referred to Blue badge holders he made no mention of the mobility entitlements so his comment is perfectly accurate..
My wife has a blue badge, and she has numerous hospital appointments often up to 6 per month across a number of West Midland Hospitals, Some like the QE at Birmingham have free blue badge parking, where as many others charge blue badge holders the same as none badge holders.
Although hospitals are obliged to offer reduced parking rates for regular or long term parking, because they are are all local to the particular hospital, it can still cost us upwards of £25 per month.
What ever happened to free healthcare?
Apparently hospitals are making a mint out of parking charges.
the topic is about the demise of the tax disc, this affects blue badge holders who have the mobility aspect integrated into the tax disc, many areas cornwall and my own have schemes where blue badge holders that also have the [nil] rated tax disc can park [anywhere] all day if required for free. other badge holders can park for free in some areas but have to pay in others.
the point is without the tax disc there is no way to distinquish one badge user from the other as traffic wardens dont carry mobile ANPR sets yet, one assumes therefore the councils that have this facility will now withdraw them.
my wife also has a blue badge and the lower rated mobility componant, she applied for the change of use for the car to disabled, because she cannot use public transport, [hell she could not even walk to the bus stop] they refused the application on the grounds that as I use the car for work it was not only used for her mobility and would not have access to it while I was at work.
as soon as I retired the application was re-submitted and accepted. we can now go out and park anywhere for free.
one wonders however how long this will last.
