Dent in Worksurface

We recently went away in our van, when we arrived on site we found that something heavy fell out of overhead locker and has dented work surface, has anyone any tips on how to repair it? as it look terrible.

Your comments would be much appreciated

If its a small one , a few mm, then the system I used worked well.

I mixed Araldite twin pack with appropriate colour dust scrapped from the tablets of a child's water colour paint set. Filled the dent then placed a bit of Sellotape over it to create a surface. Left a couple of days then pulled off tape and did a touch of careful polishing. Found it difficult to find a few months on.

If its much bigger and the vans worth the expense then it's probably a professional job to get it put right.

Thats sounds a good idea, the dent is about 1.5" dia. Dont want to sound stupid but what is Araldite?

Kay, at 1.5 inches diameter its way too big for the method I used.

Don't know where I would start with that.

Araldite is a twin tube epoxy super adhesive available at most DIY or ironmongers

hi there, the best thing to use is an hard wax, i know this because i do professional repairs. Also any soft wax could work, but u might have a hard time tying to get it to stop in the dent. hope this helps.

Thanks for your tips, can I get the wax from DIY stores, is there a particular type? How does it work then? Does it go hard?

Another thought is to stick a tile over the hole - if it is a bigger hole, maybe 4 tiles in a diamond shape, like an old-fashioned teapot stand

1. sink tiles into the worktop

2. fill with body filler and then recover witha matching fablon

3. re-vener the worktop in a matching laminate
