Design? Beauty? Or functionality?

Some of the bathroom sinks are almost comical. We had a 2016 Swift Challenger 580 and the bathroom sink was so small that you had to almost press your forehead against the mirror while brushing your teeth to ensure that all the water went into the sink rather than run down the front. We went to the NEC show the other week and some of the small bowl-style sinks were obviously inspired by Grand-Designs style TV programs rather than being inspired by functionality.

Adria do a nice line in glass salad bowls masquerading as a bathroom sink.

Last time we checked they were thin plastic bowls. The original wash basin in our caravan was too small and the sides too high for me so replaced it with this basin.

This is the type of “ salad bowl” sink some Adria‘s had fitted when we were browsing. If it’s plastic that’s an even worse design as at least a coloured plastic one would probably look better as it aged. Glass would be easy to clean. Either way it’s a classic case of form over function. Totally impractical in a caravan.

Grand Designs features good architectural design. The. primary concern. for any proper architect is function. The aesthetics of any good design must centre around functionality. Otherwise it's Bad Designs rather than Grand Designs.
Sorry to. be an architectural pedant!

That photo should be in the Humour section as the Sunscreen must be well out of date and unopened.
The picture is not of our caravan as we do not normally shop at Tesco. However the owner of that caravan probably travels to sunny climes more often than us. 😆 😆 😆

That looks like a clear version of our sink. The white plastic has no practical advantage that I can think off, but after five years is still visibly OK.
